Access instructions for those customers that have a 5MB web site with their Internet service. Please be aware you are responsible for your web sites content and web sites are for personal use not for business use.
Customers are responsible for setting up their own web site (using HTML) and having an FTP program to transfer files from their computer to the web site. Home Telephone Company can confirm your site is set up and
accessible but does not have the knowledge to teach HTML or FTP nor will our help desk. If you would like to learn HTML please consult the library or a bookstore as there are many excellent books on the subject.
To access your web site you will be using your Internet “username” and “password” that were established when you set up your account.
Your web site address is http://myweb.hmtel.com/username (Please note no www
in front of address and username = your username. This is the address you and others will use to view your web site.
FTP Set-up:
The Host Server Name is: myweb.hmtel.com
Some programs may require the http:// in front of the address.
Most programs will have a place to input your username and password.
The Host Type can be set to automatic if a setting is required.
File Information:
You will need to upload a file named: index.html This will be the first page viewers
will see when they access your web site. You can then add links to this
page to access other pages.
The first file, or Home Page of your web page must be named index.html
The above settings should get you access to your web site. Please consult your FTP programs documentation as how to set it up or if you have problems.
